That Without sacrifice one cannot live happily on this planet or in this life, what then of the next?
To Practice remaining in a state of shutting out all external sense objects.
That Mind is said to be a friend of soul and his enemy as well, one who has conquered his mind, mind will remain his best friend and to such a person happiness and distress, heat and cold, honor and dishonor all are same thus one remains neutral.

Day to day life looks easier if we decide to remain connected with God. I mean actually if God decides to remain connected with us. Meditation... ? Does it really work?, just a thought arises that if in reality each and every human being meditates on regular basis, will that make a difference? Is it going to effect the atmosphere around ?, how would things look like ?, what would be the body language of all ?, how would people act, walk, talk, think under the influence of regular meditation ?, I mean if maximum number of people on earth start meditating. The mode of Ignorance would seem to be wiped out completely. The identity with the "self" will become more prominent. just a thought which I know is just not possible in this age of darkness "Kalyug". Meditation further is believed to do wonders, may be if we are actually able to sit for an hour or so and successfully go in deep meditation, it means for that one hour you are completely cut off from the materialistic world, gone deeper and deeper into the dark between your two closed eyes and further able to experience the presence of the Lord, would this not really put a massive positive impact on your inner self? would there be any kind of reactions happening within you? definitely it should happen.

This is not about teaching spirituality or religion, I would myself like to learn to be spiritual, its only about trying to find out the science of the "self". The simplest method one of which would be for understand your inner self would be to meditate on the Supreme Personality of Godhead "Lord Krishna", no rules and rituals are required to be followed for this.

May be this was the reason that in past it was tradition in indian households to lit a lamp daily morning and evening but with the passage of time these practices have reduced drastically and when these were followed, life was much simpler, easy going, peaceful and prosperous but the present times are full of struggle, so mechanical, faithless because these simple techniques are not applied these days which look simple but seem to be very much effective.

The Opulence of the Absolute (Krishna)

Lord Krishna :- Neither the hosts of demigods nor the great sages know my origin or opulences, for in every respect, I am the source of the demigods and sages. He who knows me as the unborn, as the beginningless, as the Supreme lord of all the worlds - He who only undeluded among men is freed from all sins. Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, for-giveness, truthfulness, control of the senses, control of the mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, non-violence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy --- All these various qualities of living beings are created by Me alone.

Lord Krishna :- The Seven great sages and before them the four other great sages and the Manus (progenitors of mankind) come from Me, born from my mind, and all the living beings populating the various planets descend from them.

Lord Krishna :- I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from me. The wise perfectly knowing this engage in my devotional service and worship me with all their hearts. The thoughts of my pure devotees dwell in me.

The Science Of Getting Rid Of Anxiety, Grief and Attachment

Vyasa said: The mind creates (within itself) numerous ideas (of objects or existent things). The Understanding settles which is which. The heart discriminates which is agreeable and which is disagreeable. These are the three forces that impel to acts. The objects of the senses are superior to the senses. The mind is superior to those objects. The understanding is superior to mind. The Soul is regarded as superior to Understanding. (As regards the ordinary purposes of man) the Understanding is his Soul. When the Understanding, of its own motion, forms ideas (of objects) within itself, it then comes to be called Mind.

[Note: In the original, the word Atman is used in various senses. Sometimes it stands for the Jiva-soul (embodied soul), sometimes for the Supreme Soul, sometimes for essence or the principal portion of anything, sometimes for one’s own self, and sometimes even for the person or body. It is not difficult to distinguish in which sense the word is used in what place.]

In consequence of the senses being different from one another (both in respect of their objects and the manner of their operation), the Understanding (which is one and the same) presents different aspect in consequence of its different modifications. When it hears, it becomes the organ of hearing, and when it touches, it becomes the organ of touch. Similarly, when it sees, it becomes the organ of vision, and when it tastes, it becomes the organ of taste, and when it smells, it becomes the organ of scent. It is the Understanding that appears under different guises (for different functions) by modification.

It is the modifications of the Understanding that are called the senses. Over them is placed as their presiding chief (or overseer) the invisible Soul. Residing in the body, the Understanding exists in the three states (of Sattwa, Rajas, and Tamas). Sometimes it obtains cheerfulness, sometimes it gives way to grief; and sometimes its condition becomes such that it is united with neither cheerfulness nor grief. The Understanding, however, whose chief function (as already said) is to create entities, transcends those three states even as the ocean, that lord of rivers, prevails against the mighty currents of the rivers that fall into it.

When the Understanding desires for anything,it comes to be called by the name of Mind.The senses again, though (apparently different) should all be taken as included within the Understanding. The senses, which are engaged in bearing impressions of form, scent etc., should all be subdued. When a particular sense becomes subservient to the Understanding, the latter though in reality not different (from that sense), enters the Mind in the form of existent things. Even this is what happens with the senses one after another (separately and not simultaneously) with reference to the ideas that are said to be apprehended by them.

[Note: If I have understood this verse correctly, the theory of perception laid down is a sort of idealism which has not, perhaps, its counterpart in European metaphysics. The senses are first said to be only modifications of the understanding. The mind also is a modification of the same. A particular sense, say the eye, becomes subservient to the understanding at particular moment. As soon as this happens, the understanding, though in reality it is only the eye, becomes united with the eye, and entering the mind raises an image there, the consequence of which is that that image is said to be seen. External world there is, of course, as independent of mind and understanding. That which is called a tree is only an idea or image created in the mind by the understanding with the aid of sense of vision.]

All the three states that exist (viz., Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas), inhere to these three (viz., Mind, Understanding, and Consciousness) and like the spokes of a car-wheel acting in consequence of their attachment to the circumference of the wheel, they follow the different objects (that exist in Mind, Understanding, and Consciousness).

[Note: The speaker here combats the theory that the qualities of Sattwa, Rajas, and Tamas inhere to the objects themselves of the senses. His own view is that they inhere to the Mind, the Understanding, and Consciousness. The qualities may be seen to exist with objects, but in reality they follow objects in consequence of their permanent connection with the mind, the understanding, and consciousness, which have agency in the production of objects. The commentator cites the instance of a wife’s beautiful and symmetrical limbs. These excite pleasure in the husband, envy in a co-wife, and desire (mixed with pain at its not being gratified) in a weak hearted gazer. All the while the limbs remain unchanged. Then again, the husband is not always pleased with them, nor is the co-wife always filled with envy at their sight, nor is the gazer always agitated. Like the spokes of a wheel which are attached to the circumference and which move with circumference, the qualities of Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas, attached to the mind, understanding and consciousness, move along with them, i.e., follow those objects in the production of which the mind etc., are causes.]

The mind must make a lamp of the senses for dispelling the darkness that shuts out the knowledge of the Supreme Soul. This knowledge that is acquired by Yogis with the aid of all especial agency of Yoga, is acquired without any especial efforts by men that abstain from worldly objects. The universe is of this nature (viz., it is only a creation of the understanding). The man of knowledge, therefore, is never stupefied (by attachment to things of this world). Such a man never grieves, never rejoices, and is free from envy (at seeing another possessing a larger share of earthly objects).

The Soul is incapable of being seen with the aid of the senses whose nature is to wander among all (earthly) objects of desire. Even righteous men, whose senses are pure, fail to behold the Soul with their aid, what then should be said of the vicious whose senses are impure? When, however, a person with the aid of his mind, tightly holds their reins, it is then that his Soul discovers itself like an object (unseen in darkness) appearing to the view in consequence of the light of a lamp. Indeed, as all things become visible when the darkness that envelopes them is dispelled, even the soul becomes visible when the darkness that covers it is removed. [Note: As soon as the darkness of the understanding is dispelled and true knowledge succeeds, the Soul becomes visible.]

As an acquatic fowl, though moving on the water is never drenched by that element, after the same manner the Yogi of freed soul is never soiled by the imperfections of the three attributes (of Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas). After the same manner, the man of wisdom, by even enjoying all earthly objects without being attached to any of them, is never soiled by faults of any kind that arise in the case of others from such enjoyment. He who avoids acts after having done them duly (i.e., who adopts the Sannyasa or the last mode of life of Renunciation, after having duly gone through the preceding modes), and takes delight in the one really existent entity, viz., the Soul, who has constituted himself the soul of all created beings, and who succeeds in keeping himself aloof from the three attributes, obtains an understanding and senses that are created by the Soul.

The qualities (Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas) are incapable of apprehending the Soul. The Soul, however, apprehends them always. The Soul is the witness that beholds the qualities and duly calls them up into being. Behold, this is the difference between the understanding and the Soul both of which are exceedingly subtle. One of them creates the qualities. The other never creates them. Though they are different from each other by nature, yet they are always united. The fish living in the water is different from the element in which it lives. But as the fish and the water forming its home are always united, after the same manner Sattwa and Kshetrajna (Soul) exist in a state of union. The gnat born within a rotten fig is really not the fig but different from it. Nevertheless, as the gnat and the fig are seen to be united with each other, even so are Sattwa, and Kshetrajna. As the blade in a clump of grass, though distinct from the clump, nevertheless exists in a state of union with it, even so these two, though different from each other, each existing in its own self, are to be seen in a state of constant union.

Vyasa said: The objects by which one is surrounded are created by the understanding. The Soul without being connected with them, stands aloof, presiding over them. It is the understanding that creates all objects The three primary qualities (Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas) are continually being transformed (for the production of objects). The Kshetrajna or Soul, endued with puissance, presides over them all, without, however, mingling with them.

Two opinions
The objects, which the understanding creates, partake of its own nature. Indeed, as the spider creates threads (which partakes of its own material substance), the objects created by the understanding partake of the nature of the understanding. Some maintain that the qualities, when driven away by Yoga or knowledge, do not cease to exist. They say this because when once gone, the indications only of their return are not perceptible. (But that is no evidence of their actual destruction). Others say that when dispelled by knowledge, they are at once destroyed never to return.

Reflecting upon these two opinions properly, one should strive one’s best according to the way one thinks proper. It is by this way that one should attain to eminence and take refuge in one’s own Soul alone.

The Soul is without beginning and without end. Comprehending his Soul properly man should move and act, without giving to wrath, without indulging in joy, and always free from envy. Cutting by this means the knot that is in one’s heart, the knot whose existence is due to the operation of the faculties of the understanding, which is hard (to open or cut), but which nevertheless is capable of being destroyed by knowledge, one should live happily, without giving way to grief (for anything that happens), and with one’s doubts dispelled. Know that they who mingle in the affairs of this world are as distressed in body and mind as persons ignorant of the art of swimming when they slip from the land and fall into a large and deep river. The man of learning, however, being conversant with the truth, is never distressed, for he feels like one walking over solid land. Indeed, he who apprehends his Soul to be such, viz., as presenting only the character of Chit (consciousness), which has knowledge alone for its indication, is never distressed. Indeed, a person, by thus comprehending the origin and end of all creatures, and by thus apprehending their inequalities or distinctions, succeeds in attaining to high felicity.

This knowledge is the possession of a Brahmana (Brahmin) in especial by virtue of his birth. Knowledge of the Soul, and felicity like that which has been adverted to, are each fully sufficient to lead to emancipation.
[Note: Janmasamartham is explained as certain to be acquired by virtue of birth or of the practice of the duties laid down for one’s own order. (The four orders are Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaisya and Sudra). Parayanam is moksha-prapakam.]

Indication of a person of knowledge
By acquiring such knowledge one really becomes learned. What else is the indication of a person of knowledge? Having acquired such knowledge, they that are wise among men regard themselves crowned with success and become emancipated. Those things that become sources of fear unto men destitute of knowledge do not become sources of fear unto those that are endued with knowledge. There is no end higher than the eternal end which is obtained by a person possessed of knowledge. One beholds with aversion all earthly objects of enjoyment which are, of course, fraught with faults of every kind. Another, beholding others betake themselves with pleasure to such objects, is filled with sorrow.

As regards this matter, however, they that are conversant with both objects, behold, viz., that which is fictitious and that which is not so, never indulge in sorrow and are truly happy.

That which a man does without expectation of fruits destroys his acts of a former life. The acts, however, of such a person both of this and his previous life cannot lead to Emancipation. On the other hand, such destruction of former acts of this life cannot lead to what is disagreeable (viz., hell), even if the man of wisdom engages in acts.

All above is really an amazing science of the real self. Isnt it really like that as if we are forced into an undesirable condition or situation and forced to experience through our 5 senses all this unreal world, forced to see everything under the sun, all that is really temperory and of in real sense of no use, because something that is temperory and has to end, of what value it is?, Being forced to go through different actions and reactions utilising the 3 modes of nature ie. Satvic, Rajas and Tamsik modes, just because for that very short period of time we allowed our tongue to taste the flesh of some other animal because during that short period we were in the mode of Rajas and Tamsic and hence later then are forced to suffer as per the bad karma of flesh eating, how stupid it looks. Just because for a particular short time we felt like harassing someone because of our agitated mind, which if could be controlled during that particular time would have resulted in all together a different story and we would have not got the result of this bad action or karma.

The Power of love is so overwhelming that even in its skewed form as lust, it impells two people to come together in the name of love. Genuine love essentially commits itself to first giving or offering best from the heart with an attitude of pleasing the recipient. Lust wants to take from others, lust feeds on feverish praise, dominance and recognition, where as love maintains detachment from selfish gain.

Heres an analogy : Both gold and Iron sell in market as metals but a few grams of lustrous soft rare metal costs more than a tonne of its hard and dull counterpart (Iron), similarly selfless love doesnot lose its unprecedented value just because it is rarely experienced. Pretentious words and vain promises are favourite disguises of lust, love on the other hand wears garb of spirituality, speak language of purity, walks path of humility, adopts code of tolerance, being willing to sacrifice everything for welfare of the beloved.

Gentle love is invincible, whereas brutal lust because of its inflamable nature burns to ashes all traces of compassion, reason and empathy, when lust turns to frustration all illusion, false attraction and attachment turns into retaliation in form of abuse, defamation and destruction. THERES NO TRACE OF LOVE HERE...until and unless one is able to descriminate between true love and deceptive lust, one is unable to understand that the ardent lover of god is fully prepared to undergo any kind of adversity birth after birth to attain the lotus feet of the lord.

Once Lord Krishna had a splitting headache, no doctor could cure him, finally krishna revealed that only dust of his unalloyed devotees could give him relief, so the gopis, who were his unalloyed devotees inspite of being aware that this would be the most serious crime to put the dust of there feet on the head of the supreme lord, still went ahead and did it because of there unalloyed devotion, true love for the lord.

Seven Dhaatus (Metals)

According to Ayurveda, there are seven dhaatus (metals)-gold, silver, copper, iron, tin, lead and zinc-which are essential elements of the body. Perfect health is attributed to the state of equilibrium of these dhaatus in body tissues. Any imbalance excess or deficiency-disturbs the functioning of the body.

Gold is present in trace amounts in blood, semen, eyes, upper layer of skin and intestines. Imbalance affects vision, causes general weakness in the body, dullness of intellect, loss of imaginative power, voice and general complexion of an individual.

Silver is present in the bone marrow, upper layer of bones, gall bladder, pancreas, inner layers of the skin, lungs, muscles, blood vessels, meninges (the membranes investing the spinal cord and brain), and septum of nose. Imbalance leads to neurological disturbances, problems related to teeth, cataract sores and absorption from gut.

Copper is present in the upper and inner layers of skin, mucosa of soft tissue, large glands, pupil of the eye, hair, pleura and pericardium. Imbalance causes defects in cardiovascular, central nervous and skeletal systems. Deficiency affects production of red blood cells and hair keratinisation. Imbalance causes chronic inflammatory disorders in soft tissues.

Iron is the major constituent of blood, present in the villi of the intestine, pupit hair and in small quantity in all tissues of the body. Imbalance causes arteriosclerosis, anaemia and general debility.Lead is present in blood and lymphatic tissues. Imbalance causes anaemia, disturbance in gastrointestinal tract due to poor secretion of digestive juices, haemolytic anaemia and ascites.

Tin is present in every tissue. However, it is found more in abdominal muscles, blood and blood vessels, synovial membranes lining the capsule of joints, outer layer of uterus. Imbalance causes malformation in bones, diseases of reproductive tract, affects formation of urine, polyurea and increased perspiration.

Zinc is present in blood, brain, nerve tissue and muscles. Imbalance causes problems related to nervous system like depression, anxiety, dullness of intellect, extreme forgetfulness and irritable temperament.

Sometimes it really becomes difficult to analyze wether a "decision taken" is out of our own capabilities or something that was destined to happen..

We cant say that everthing is the out-come of our own capacities, if it was so, then why a person working very hard earns much less than those priviledged ones who work less and earn more.
The vedic science and astrology says that a human is under the control of 3 different types of planets that rule our day to day activities and results. One of these types are the planets that in any circumstance give only positive result ( the variation though may differ from person to person) and also there are those types of planets that in any circumstance give only negative results (again the variation may differ from person to person) and finally there are those types of planets which on there own donot give what we want but they also donot obstruct (it means how much we work, that much we get)

Now this sounds amazing, but how to know that in which circumstances which kind of planets were having more influence, this is something I believe is just not possible to find out.

Now if I co-relate this with what Bhagwad Gita says is that "When one performs his prescribed duty according to his position (his position out of the four, ie.wether he is a Brahman (learned, teacher, guru), or a Kshatriya (protector), or a vaisya (trader, merchant, businesman) or a sudra (the labours), abandoning all attachment to the results of actions of failure or success and never considers himself to be the cause of results of actions and also never attached to not doing the prescribed duty, thus one never incurs sin-This is called Yoga.

Strive for yoga, the art of all work, surrender unto Lord Krishna and in Krishna consciousness perform your work, thus at the time of work do not concentrate on the result of the work performed, the result wether you will succeed or lose. Thus we can also be free from the the bondage of work. Sounds fascinating......

So finally though one may not know that out of the 3 types of planets which one is effecting more at the time of a particular action performed but atleast in above way we can atleast free ourselves from incurring sin..

The Soul is called Brahmaan and his nature is called "Adhyatma" (self), actions done are called "Karma", physical nature ie. the changes in the body is called "Adhibhuta", universal form of Lord Krishna is called "Adhidaiva" and Lord Krishna as supersoul is called "Adhiyajna" (lord of sacrifice..

After listening to all these great teachings, Arjuna's mental health became well & he became motivated & energetic to fight the war.Now many of us & many of our employees in our organization find themselves in the same state of mind, as that of "Arjuna". Their de-motivated, depressed state of mind can be changed to motivated & energetic one by these teachings of "Bhagwat Gita". But he whose mind is controlled and who strives by appropriate means is assured of success. That is My opinion."So in the Bhagwat Gita, "Lord Sri Krishna" first of all asks one to do his DUTY. If a person does his/her duty then half of the problems of that person are solved. Not doing one's duty is very harmful as it produces negative results only in one's life, like frustration, depression, de-motivation etc. If one does at least his/her duty, then such negative factors affect that person to a lesser degree or do not affect at all. As per "Lord Sri Krishna", doing one’s prescribed duties, even though faultily is better to have a better Mental Health."sreyan sva-dharmo vigunahpara-dharmat sv-anusthitatsva-dharme nidhanam sreyahpara-dharmo bhayavahah" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Three verse 35)"Lord Sri Krishna said: It is far better to discharge one’s prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another’s duties perfectly. Destruction in the course of performing one’s own duty is better than engaging in another’s duties, for to follow another’s path is dangerous."Another teaching of "Bhagwat Gita" is to do one's work for the sake of work only without caring for the fruit arising out of that work. That simply means to get deeply involved in one's work or to just think single mindedly about performing the best in one's job without thinking about the results arising out of those actions performed while doing one's work or duty. Just concentrate on your work, that's it. Below verse of "Bhagwat Gita" explains this."karmany evadhikaras tema phalesu kadachanama karma-phala-hetur bhurma te sango ’stv akarmani" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 47)"Lord Sri Krishna said: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty."Another below verse of "Bhagwat Gita" explains that one should do one's duty equi-poised or to have the equanimity of mind, without caring & renouncing all attachment to success or failure. If one does one's duty efficiently & with single minded devotion, without any fear of success or failure in his/her Endeavour, then certainly that person shall succeed in his/her work, as he/she is doing that work without any fear of success or failure. His/her mind shall be at peace & ease while doing such work without any fear of success or failure. Any person whose mind is at peace, certainly works effectively."yoga-sthah kuru karmanisangam tyaktva dhananjayasiddhy-asiddhyoh samo bhutvasamatvam yoga ucyate" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 48)"Lord Sri Krishna said: Perform your duty equi-poised, O Arjuna, abandoning all attachment to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga."So if a person is dedicated to his work & works for the sake of work only without any fear of success or failure, then that person is going to be certainly successful in his/her carrier. When lord Krishna was born in Nandgaon, hearing the news of the birth many saints and gods visited Nandgaon to see Lord Krishna, one among them being Shanidev. Everyone was allowed to have Krishna's darshan except Shanidev. Yashoda stopped him at the door and saying that her son would be frightened at the sight of Lord Shani. Shanidev was highly disappointed and went to the nearby forest and prayed, "O God! I am your servant. You have appointed me to judge and punish sinners according to their karmas. Then why does everybody think of me as being malignant and cruel; why do they avoid even my shadow? Today, when all gods and demi-gods could enjoy the bliss of your darshan, I am denied that right and benediction." Touched by his prayer lord Krishna manifested Himself to him. He advised him to stay put near Nandanvan and granted him the boon that anyone who came to his temple to pray would immediately be freed from all worries and afflictions. That part of the forest where Krishna appeared before Shanidev, has since been called Kokilavan and one can visit the renowned and ancient temple of Lord Shani (Saturn) today which is just six km from Kosi (UP) on the Nandgaon-Barsana road.

This is some interesting piece of information that I recieved from some one and I felt like posting it on my blog.

There was a sage, he had ful knowledge of all the 4 vedas,various scriptures, religious texts etc. But without passing on all this knowledge to any person he passed away but he didnot attain liberation. His soul kept wandering around in search of a disciple to whom he could pass on all his knowledge.

Years passed away,a man of around 15-20 yrs old looking for some one to teach him about the 4 vedas etc reached Kashi, when he came across this soul and expressed his desire to learn, the soul told him that he has to remain in this house with the soul for 18 years without going out of the house, the man agreed and stayed for 18 years, at the end of 18 years having attained ful knowledge, the soul said that his time has come to depart, the soul left for heavenly planets and informed his disciple that he should continue to stay at Kashi, he will be able to take any form.

There is a huge Black board at the entrance of Kashi Vishwa Vidyalaya and it is said that any one who wants to know about anything under the sun, if writes his question on the black board seeking for answers, when returns next day, you will find the answer to your question written on the black board.

And aren't we all also on the eve of the battle of daily life? Lord Krishna explains the various ways a person can seek and find and know God and live blissfully.

The Bhagavad-gita is in seven hundred Sanskrit verses and consists of eighteen chapters.
The colophon of each chapter towards its end gives a brief idea of the content of the chapter. This classification would make one feel that the Bhagavad-gita deals with eighteen subjects. But actually each chapter has something to say about certain other things also apart from the main intention of the chapter as indicated in the colophon. So True,Further, on a reading of the entire Gita, even several times, it is likely that one may miss the true import of the teaching in as much as it is not easy to stratify in a serial or consecutive order the developmental process of thought in the Gita.. It helps you cross the mind limits and reach new levels, its spoken by God himself. there's nothing beyond Lord Krishna, nothing before him and nothing in between, Krishna is everything, everywhere, ever existing, endless, with no beginning, no middle, no end to it, its beyond the human senses and can be felt and understood only by devotion.

These above contents make me realise and feel as if we all human beings are not living in a real world, this is not the real world, this world seems to be only a shadow of the real thing, otherwise why lord krishna would have said that the self does nothing and all activities are performed by the body, a creation of material nature, it means we are different from our bodies, our true identity is not the body and its something else, and that something else obviously doesnt belong to this world. And that something else is bound to be eternal (thats why don't we all human beings have that feeling deep within ourselves that we are going to live permenantly, I mean with the passage of time we never get that feeling that our existence is temperory, even though our body keeps changing from childhood to youth to old age, so true, if we really give a thought that the living entity (soul) within the body illuminates our entire body by consciousness as told by Lord Krishna, believe me, this book Bhagavad Gita is actually scientific, its the supreme science. In chapter "Nature, the enjoyer and Consciousness" in the Bhagavad Gita, all information is scientifically given about our body and its actions and reactions. Lord Krishna says "Intelligence, knowledge, freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of the senses and mind, happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, non-violence, equanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy - all these various qualities of living beings are created by me alone"

This means that these all above things are creations of the supreme lord, our material science has still not been able to prove from where these different emotions have come into being, its further clearly mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita "The five great elements - Earth, Water, Fire, air and ether, the false ego, intelligence, the unmanifested, the ten senses - eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin, voice, legs, hands, anus and genitals, and the mind, the five sense objects - smell, taste, form, touch and sound, and desire, hatred, happiness, distress, the aggregate, the life symptoms, and convictions - all these are considered in summary to be the field of activities (Body) and its interactions" , now further there is something called "knowledge" which is bestowed to this field of activity (our body). Lord Krishna says "Humility, pridelessness, nonviolence, tolerance, simplicity, approaching a bonafide spiritual master, cleanliness, steadiness, self control, renunciatioin of the objects of sense gratification, absensce of false ego, the perception of the evil of birth, death, old age and disease, detachment, freedom from entanglement with children, wife, home and the rest, even mindedness amid pleasant and unpleasant events, constant and unalloyed devotion to me, aspiring to live in solitary place, detachment from the general mass of people, accepting the importance of self realisation and philosophical search for the absolute truth - all these I declare to be knowledge, and besides this whatever there may be is ignorance", now all these things are said to be the real knowledge and lastly within our body is the supersoul, the beginningless and endless, all pervading, which is without senses, unattached, one who transcends the 3 modes of material nature, the supreme personality, the supersoul which is knowledge, the object of knowledge and the goal of knowledge, situated in everyones heart

So all above gives a brief analytical description of the human body and its contents which also includes the emotion side. Now this human body and the soul within comes in contact with the 3 modes of material nature - modes of goodness, passion and ignorance and gets contaminated, all causes, actions, effects are due to nature and not the soul or the field of activity, where as the living entity is the cause of all suffering and enjoyments due to getting in contact with the 3 modes, thus living entity in material nature follows different ways of life enjoying the three modes of nature and thus he meets with good and evil among various species.

Lord Krishna says " Whatever we see in existence both moving and nonmoving is only a combination of field of activities and the knower of the field"

Hence Lord says that "one who can see that all activities are performed by the body, which is created of material nature and sees that the self does nothing, actually sees"

1) ADI PURUSH AVATAR (Incarnation as the Pre-eminent man) : Lord Vishnu took his first incarnation as the pre-eminent man, with a desire to commence creation. This first incarnation of Lord Vishnu was full of all the sixteen Kalas (Supernatural powers).Lord Brahma manifested from the navel of Lord Vishnu in his (Lord Vishnu) state of Yoganidra (deep meditation). The creation as well as the expansion of the creation commenced from the organs of Lord Brahma. The first incarnation of Lord Vishnu is all-powerful, which can be seen only by the yogins and sages who have attained divine knowledge. This incarnation is also the indestructible seed from which all the other incarnations manifest themselves. During the time of final annihilation of the world, every creation merges into him.

2) THE ETERNAL YOUTHS : Sanatkumar was the 'Manasputra' (born by a wish) of Lord Brahma. Throughout his life, he maintained celibacy; and engaged himself in the performance of tremendous penance. He was the one from whom the Brahmins got the inspiration regarding the values and importance of penance and Celibacy.

3) VARAHA AVATAR (The incarnation as a Boar) : Lord Vishnu took his third incarnation as a boar. In this incarnation Lord Vishnu rescued the earth which had submerged in the ocean, and brought it out from the ocean. The whole creation started only after that. A demon by the name of Hiranyaksha had abducted the earth and carried it to the 'Rasatala' (the second lowest of the world). The earth is considered to be as a 'Woman' and since it is a crime to abduct a woman therefore Lord Vishnu in his incarnation of a boar killed the demon Hiranyaksha and liberated the earth from his clutches.

4) NARADA AVATAR (The incarnation as Sage Narada) : Lord Vishnu took his fourth incarnation as Narada. Narada by becoming a 'Devarishi' among all the sages, achieved liberation from all of his Karma's (action). Narada was the one who gave discourses to the Vaishnavas (followers of Lord Vishnu) on 'Pancharatra Tantra'.Lord Vishnu in his incarnation as Narada, showed that, the devotion is the best mean of getting liberated from all the bondages of 'Karma's'. He also said that a devotee of Lord Vishnu is the supreme among the devotees in the same way as Devarishi Narada among the Sages.

5) NARA-NARAYANA AVATAR (Incarnation as Nara-Narayana) : Lord Vishnu took his fifth incarnation as sage Nara-Narayan by taking a birth from the womb of a woman named 'Kala'. He performed a tremendous penance by going to Badri and Kedar. He showed the importance Penance (Labour), and also that nothing can be achieved in this world without it.

6) KAPILA AVATAR(Incarnation as Sage Kapila) : Lord Vishnu's Sixth incarnation was as sage Kapila. The objective of this incarnation was to compile all the divine knowledge that had been destroyed. He was the profounder of Sankhya Shastra (rationalism) which helped the Brahmins, who had forgotten their duties to rectify their mistakes. He also gave discourse to his own mother.

7) DATTATRAYA AVATAR (Incarnation as Dattatraya) : Lord Vishnu's Seventh incarnation was as Dattatraya. He was born to Ansuya and his father was Sage Atri. He was the one who had given Spiritual Knowledge to King Alarka and Prahlada. He had twenty four teachers. He believed that in the world, a man can learn from each and every thing, so he accepted twenty-four objects like water, bird, air, an unmarried girl, and even a prostitute etc.

8) YAGYA AVATAR (Incarnation as Yagya): Lord Vishnu in his eighth incarnation as Yagya was born to Prajapati and Akuti. He had rescued a 'Devagana' (celestial and supernatural being) named Yama and also the Manvantar named as 'Swayambhuva'. The main thrust of his teaching was based on the values of helpfulness and protecting each other during the time of crisis.

9) RISHABH AVATAR (Incarnation as Rishabh Dev) : Lord Vishnu in his ninth incarnation as Rishabh Dev was born to king Nabhi and Marudevi. His mother Marudevi was the daughter of Indra. He attained that state of Paramhansa (an ascetic of highest order who has controlled his anger) which is an uphill task. He was given the title of 'Jin' which means a ' a knower'. His followers are known as Jains.

10) PRITHU AVATAR (Incarnation as Prithu) : Lord Vishnu in his tenth incarnation as 'Prithu' came into existence after the body of King 'Vena'. Lord Vishnu took this incarnation as per the wishes of the sages. The earth had concealed all the vegetation's within her and as a result the whole land had become barren. To protect the humanity, Lord Vishnu took incarnation as Prithu by milking the cow (earth). This is considered that as a very supreme incarnation, because the earth has remained full of vegetation's after that.

11) MATSYA AVATAR (Incarnation as a Fish) : All the oceans had unified into a single ocean in the 'Manvantara' of 'Chakshusha'. Lord Vishnu in his 11th incarnation as a Matsya (Fish) rescued the earth from 'Maya' the demon. He gave discourses to Satyavrat along with the seven sages, while they were sitting on the boat. He also showed them his illusionary powers. This was his eleventh incarnation.

12) KACHCHAP AVATAR (Incarnation as a Tortoise) : Lord Vishnu in his twelfth incarnation as a tortoise, held the mountain 'Mandarachala' on his back, during the time when the deities and the demons where churning the ocean. He stopped the mountain from going to the netherworld. This was Lord Vishnu's twelfth incarnation.

13) DHANVANTARI (Incarnation as Dhanvantari) : Lord Vishnu took his thirteenth incarnation as Dhanvantari. He manifested from the ocean holding a vessel filled with ambrosia. He was the profounder of medicinal science.

14) MOHINI AVATAR (Incarnation as a most Enchanting woman) : Lord Vishnu in his fourteenth incarnation as a most enchanting woman enchanted the demons by his beautiful appearance of a woman, and took away the pot filled up with ambrosia from them and gave it to the deities. The deities were thus protected from the demons.

15) NARSIMHA AVATAR (Incarnation in the form of half-man and half-lion) : Lord Vishnu took his fifteenth incarnation as Nrisimha, having upper portion of his body in the form of lion and the lower portion resembling of a man. In this incarnation he protected Prahlada from his father Hiranyakashipu the demon. He killed Hiranyakashipu by tearing his body apart by his nails. Lord Vishnu had to attain this form because Lord Brahma had blessed Hiranyakashipu, that a Human being could not kill him.

16) HAYAGREEVA AVATAR (Incarnation as Hayagreeva) : Once Lord Brahma becoming tired of his creative activities, wanted to rest. The night of the Brahma was approaching. Because of his tiredness Lord Brahma yawned. All the four Vedas came out from his opened mouth. A demon who used to live near him in disguise, abducted the Vedas. Lord Vishnu took his sixteenth incarnation as Hayagreeva to protect the Vedas. In this incarnation his face resembled that of a horse and the rest of his body resembled that of Sri Narayan with all of his four hands. He killed the demon and protected the Vedas.

17) VAMAN AVATAR (Incarnation as a Dwarf) : Lord Vishnu took his seventeenth incarnation as a Dwarf, when Bali the king of the demons had captured the entire three worlds. Indra and all the other deities were wandering all around after losing the heaven.To help the deities regain control over the heaven. Lord Vishnu disguised as a dwarf went to Bali when he was busy performing a 'Yagya' and demanded earth measured by his three steps. When 'Bali' agreed, he transformed his form from a small dwarf to a giant. Consequently he covered all the three world with his two steps. Ultimately he regained heaven for the deities.

18) PARSHURAM AVATAR (Incarnation as Parshurama) : When the Kshatriya kings became ruthless and started exploiting their subjects. Lord Vishnu took his eighteenth incarnation as Parshurama' and annihilated the Kshatriyas kings for seventeen times and consequently donated the earth to the Brahmins.

19) VYAS AVATAR (Incarnation as Sage Vyasa) : Lord Vishnu took his nineteenth incarnation as Sage Vyasa by taking birth from the womb of 'Satyavati'. His father was sage Parashar. He made the division of Veda, and made extension of its branches. He also wrote eighteen Mahapuranas and the Mahabharata.

20) RAM AVATAR (Incarnation as Lord Rama) : Lord Rama is considered to be the twentieth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In this incarnation he constructed a bridge over the ocean with the help of the Vanars (monkeys) and after crossing over to Lankas killed many demons like Ravana, Kumbhakarna. He accomplished many astonishing feats and saved the deities. He taught the value of morality.

21) BALARAM AVATAR (Incarnation as Balrama) : Balrama is considered to be the twenty-first incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In this incarnation he killed Pralambasura the demon and he killed many more demons.

22) KRISHNA AVATAR (Incarnation as Krishna) : Lord Krishna born in Mathura was the twenty-second incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He fought against the exploitation right from his childhood and killed many demons like Kalayavan, Kansa, Jarasandh etc. He gave a divine knowledge to Arjun during the battle of Kurukshetra.

23) BUDDHA AVATAR (Incarnation as Buddha) : The twenty-third incarnation of Lord Vishnu was as Lord Buddha. In the Kaliyuga the demons were completely subjugated by the deities. Shukracharya the teacher of the demons instigated the demons to perform Yagya so that they could regain power and authority. Fearing this the deities prayed to Lord Vishnu for help. Lord Vishnu took incarnation as Buddha and dissuaded the demons from performing Yagya as it involves violence the demons stopped performing Yagyas.

24) KALKI AVATAR (Incarnation as Kalki) : At the end of Kaliyuga, when the sins would be 80, all pervading that the kings would themselves becomes thieves then Lord Vishnu would take his twenty-fourth incarnation as Kalki by taking birth in the village of 'Shambhal'. He would take birth in a Brahmin family of Vishnuyash. By killing and destroying the sinners, he would re-establish the superiority of Virtuosity and religiousness.

In this material world certain acts are being performed naturally and many living beings are killed about which we can not even think of. We have so many organisms in our intestines and they get killed up naturally. Even by breathing we are killing so many microbes. So many microbes are killed while cooking. And eating vegetables is also killing.

In this world there is the law that one living being is food for another living being.jivo jivasya jivanam"One living being is food for another." We simply have to take what is allotted to us by the Lord as our quota and offer it to Him first before eating. This will free us from the sin of killing. [greenyajna-siñöasinaù santomucyante sarva-kilbiñaiùbhunjate te tv agham papaye pacanty atma-karaëat The devotees of the Lord are released from all kinds of sins because they eat food, which is offered first for sacrifice. Others, who prepare food for personal sense enjoyment, verily eat only sin. The Lord has allotted human beings to take fruits, milk products, vegetables, and grains provided we offer them first to Him before eating. We cannot actually take meat, fish, and eggs because these have not been allotted to us as our quota..........

Krishna is an avatar of visnu. But there is another school of thought namely gaudiya vaishnavism which brought forth the facts and truths. Bhagavatam says that krsnas tu svayam bhagavan which it is the krishna who is supreme personality of godhead it is beacuse of his order that visnu,siva and brahma are working, brahma vaivarta purana also confirms this where u can find the statement valid. All of us souls which were present with krishna didnt want him and instead asked him for material desires. So krishna created this material world and we all came here. Only after coming that we realised this is not the place we belong to and this is not the place where we can find complete happiness. Thats when we started searching for questions like where we came from, who are we ,etc,,,.. For material creation, Lord Krishna's plenary expansion assumes three Vishnus. The first one, Maha-Vishnu, creates the total material energy, known as the mahat-tattva. The second, Garbhodakasayi Vishnu, enters into all the universes to create diversities in each of them. The third, Kshirodakasayi Vishnu, is diffused as the all-pervading Supersoul in all the universes and is known as Paramatma. He is present even within the atoms. Anyone who knows these three Vishnus can be liberated from material entanglement. "In dwapar yug All vishnu energies get merged into krishna again and he himself comes to this earth to erect dharma again. That's why krishna avatar is a complete avatar from which we can experience pastimes of different different types in the wonderful avatar.

Lord Krishna says- "When the embodied being (living being) is able to transcend the Three Modes of nature ie.the mode of goodness, passion and ignorance, he can become free from birth, death, old age and their distresses and can enjoy nectar even in this life"

Arjuna inquired -"O my dear lord, by what symptoms is one known who is transcendental to these modes?, what is his behavior and how does he transcend the modes of nature?"

Lord Krishna says - "He who doesnot hate illumination, attachment and delusion when they are present, nor longs for them when they dissapear, who is seated like one unconcerned, being situated beyond these material reactions of the modes of nature, who remains firm, knowing that the modes ALONE are active, who regards alike pleasure and pain, and looks on a clod, a stone and a piece of gold with an equal eye, who is wise and holds praise and blame to be the same, who is unchanged in honor and dishonor, who treats friend and foe alike, who has abondoned all fruitive undertakings-SUCH a man is said to have transcended the modes of nature"

All above sounds so different and unrealistic but I firmly believe in the above contents, what I understand from above contents is that their is reaction and interaction to everything that we do under the sun, and hence these reactions results in some changes biologically, chemically in us which results in our bodies deteriorating, its obvious that as we are given these human life forms we are bound to act and use our body for various things but one who reaches that state of blissfullness knowing that he is in reallity only the soul and not this body though living in this body ,automatically disconnects from all the reactions that are happening with the body, in the body, may be this way our body will take much much longer time to get old than normally it does in our present life forms, because when we are situated in the self the chemical reactions within us that deteriorates our bodies may reduce drastically, see somewhere deep within this above mentioned knowledge given by Lord Krishna, their is something which can not taken just for granted, even the law of physics says that their is reaction to every action and that reaction is bound to result into something, in our human cases the result is childhood to youth, youth to old age and old age to disease / distress, we may not be able to 100% transcend the three modes of our nature but a few steps towards this direction can really do wonders as stated above, anyway......

Few days back on sony tv channel a programme was shown , a real story of pandit jasraj, the great sangeet maestro, India's gift to the world.

The turning point of his true to life incidents is that when he was young enough playing the tabla, while his elder brother used to sing, Lord Krishna started visiting Pandit Jasraj in his dreams and told him to start singing for him (the lord), again after few days Lord Krishna appeared and again reminded Pandit Jasraj to start singing and told him to leave rest on him, Pandit jasraj took music lessons from his elder brother and rest is history as we know, the greatest of the musicians ever born and a gift to the world from India - PANDIT JASRAJ. Suffering from depression and stress

If anyone is sufferring from painful depression and stress, the vedas say that chanting the hare krsna mantra can really do wonders. Causes of depression / anxiety is obviously due to negative thoughts that take control of our mind. we keep contemplating our mind with thoughts that make us happy and thoughts that causes distress.

Sounds simple that by just chanting the hare krsna mantra and remembering the beautiful form of Lord Krishna how is it going to work?. Depression as I understand is due to extreme negative approach towards life and anything that has negative also has positive attached to it. "Night" is there only because theres something we know as "daytime", the word "yes" exist because of the word "No". we understand that certain actions are "good" only because "bad" actions exist. God has provided us with "summer" season but has also given us the opposite "winter" season. So we may realise that our "mind" keeps experinting with the two "negative and positive" forces in our entire life span

But I wish I too was in totality Krishna conscious, the impact of both the good and bad, the night and day, the black and white, the yes and no, similarly the bad and good thoughts all this could reduces tremedously and we can experience bliss, our minds remain neutral and blissful in the thoughts of the wonderful form of "Lord Krishna" because he is not born as the day or night is born, he is not born like different seasons come and go, he is eternal, never ending, endless, he has no beginning, no end.

I wish I too was lucky enough to really able to concentrate in totality on the image of Lord Krishna, meditate, may be one fine day it happens to me also , anyway its obvious that in depression the mind is controlling the person and not the person controlling the mind hence mind will act and drag the individual back to baseless thoughts and make one suffer but still while remembering the form of lord and able concentrating on Krishna, bringing your mind back on the image of lord, this will go on and off in the beginning but with regular practice the depressed person will reach a stage when all the negative thoughts will start reducing and will finally vanish making one experince the highest bliss. This should work na?, what? , ya I think it works, no I mean it definetely will work..

The Bhagavata Purana narrates how one day, Krishna, addressing his young cowherd friends in the Vrinda forest on the banks of river Yamuna, said: "Look at these bountiful trees. They live for the benefit of others. There is not a single part of the tree which is not useful. With their beautiful foliage, fragrant flowers, cool shade, roots, bark, wood, sprouts, fruits they serve". Nobody returns without benefiting, who approaches the tree.

Krishna implored his fellow cowherds to follow the example of the tree in life. The tree has a special significance in the life and teachings of Krishna. During his early days he virtually lived in the forest surrounded by trees. Poet Jayadeva described him as one living in the forest full of trees swayed by the gentle fragrant breeze cooled by the Yamuna waters. Krishna looked bewitching with a colourful garland of fragrant flowers.

Krishna compares human life with a tree. In the Bhagavad Gita, echoing the concept of Katho-panishads, he says human life is like the eternal Ashvattha tree having roots growing above and branches beneath. Puranas say that during the great deluge, pralaya, when everything drowned in turbulent waters, Krishna, assuming the form of a divine child, sleeps on the leaf of the Ashvattha tree, the tree of life.

Krishna is identified with his flute, simplest of musical instruments made of bamboo, enchanting the entire world. On a full moon night, enchanted by the dense Vrinda forest on the banks of the river, Krishna played his flute. The gopis rushed to dance with him on the white sands, intoxicated with divine music.

When Krishna came to know that the poisonous vapours emitted by Kalia, the cobra, were destroying trees, foliage, and grass on the banks of the river Yamuna, he was worried. In order to save the environment, Krishna fought the destructive demon, and overcame him by dancing on the snake's hood, holding Kalia's tail in his hand. Krishna overpowered Kalia who then had to leave.

In this context the tree of Kadamba is mentioned. Kadamba trees are still found in large numbers in the Braj region. Groves of Kadamba trees, known as Kasaba Khandi, existed till recently in the region. This tree was the favourite of Krishna and a number of lilas are associated with Kadamba trees. To drive away Kalia he jumped into the Yamuna river after climbing on to a Kadamba tree. Mischievous Krishna stole the clothes of young gopis bathing in the river Yamuna and hid in the Kadamba tree.

While planning the city of Dwarka Krishna earmarked extensive spaces for growing trees and plants of different varieties. He had a fascination for rare plants. Puranas say that Krishna fought a pitched battle with Indra, the king of gods, to bring the sapling of the Parijata tree which grew only in heaven, particularly Nandanvana, to plant it on earth.

Krishna's fondness for trees, plants, bowers with thick foliage was translated into the concept of Nikunja Lila by Premopasaka Sampradayas of Braj. According to it, the devotees should meditate upon the divine couple, Radha and Krishna's Nikunja Lila and attain spiritual bliss.

Radha was very special to Krishna... Here is one of the most beautiful stories about Radha..

Much after Vrindavan, when Krishna was relaxing with his many wives, Rukmini his head wife threw a tantrum... All the time i hear Radhe Krishna, Radhe Govind... she is not even married to you... how come no one sings about Rukmini, or for that matter any of the other of your wives?! Whats wrong with us?... etc, etc :)

Krishna listened patiently and then suddenly held his head and complained of a head ache. Now Rukmini felt sorry, and became all loving and docile again... but the head ache refused to go... Each wife had her own suggestion about what to do... some pressed feet, others did some aroma therapy, still others made pastes from herbs... 16000+ cures were presented, none worked, his head ache only grew worse...

Narada the travelling Muni then made an appearance (Besides being a Muni, he was also something of a doctor) and he examined Krishna, felt his pulse, etc and then proclaimed that Krishna was suffering from a very rare type of a headache... one that could only be cured by a Beloved of Krishna putting his or her foot on Krishna's head... Krishna was in bed moaning softly, and the wives and the courtiers of the palace had a conference... They were all beloved of Krishna, but none dared to put their foot on the Lord's head, doing so would mean an eternity in Hell! and they were pondering and wondering what to do...

... and the news reached Radha in Vrindavan about Krishna's ill health and she rushed to his palace and when appraised of everything, asked immidiately to be taken to Krishna, she would happily put her foot on His head... Rukmini, the other wives and the rest of the palace was aghast at her quick decision... Rukmini herself told her that if she Radha did that, she would burn in hell forever...

If my Lord gets even one second of relief from his pain, then i will willingly go to hell forever said Radha as she ran to her Krishna and put her foot on his head, curing Him completely...

An abashed Rukmini along with all the other wives touched Radha's feet and realised how deep her love for Krishna was... and why people for centuries to come will sing Radhe Krishna!!

May our love for Lord Krishna also be like Radha's love for Krishna!

Happiness in Krishna Consciousness

Srila Rupa Goswami divided happiness into three categories which are 1) Happiness derived from material enjoyment, 2) happiness derived from identifying oneself with the Supreme brahman and 3) Happiness derived from Krishna Consciousness.

Happiness of the materialist and even the impersonalists is inferior to happiness in Krishna Consciousness, because the former is temperory. There is no preventing one's falling down from material happiness and there is even chances of falling from the spiritual happiness of identifying oneself with the impersonal Brahman. It has been seen that even highly educated and almost self realized - may sometimes take to political activities or to social welfare activities. The reason is that they donot derive any ultimate transcendental happiness in the impersonal understanding and therefore must come down to the material platform and take to such mundane affairs.

Happiness derived from pure devotional service is the highest because it is ETERNAL. Prahlada Maharaja (a king) prayed to Lord Nrsimhadeva : "My dear lord, I repeatedly pray unto your lotus feet that I may simply be stronger in my devotional service because happiness derived from Krishna consciousness and devotional service is SO POWERFUL that one can have all other perfections of religiousness, economic development, sense gratification and even attainment of liberation from material existence. Actually a PURE devotee doesnot aspire after any of these perfections because happiness in Krishna Consciousness is so TRANSCENDENTAL and so UNLIMITED that no other happiness can compare to it.

An interesting museum on Lord Krishna in Kurukshetra, meant to spread his message from Bhagwad Gita.

The scriptures proclaim Lord Krishna as the world teacher in the Sanskrit shloka: Krishnam Vande Jagatgurum. Apart from this, the Krishna cult has given birth to regional guises of Krishna such as Jagannath cult in Orissa, Dakorji in Gujarat, Srinathji of the Pustimargis of Nathadvara, Balaji or Venketesvar of Tirupati, and the Guruvayur of Kerala. On Krishna Jayanti day, it is interesting to go on a visit to the only museum devoted to Krishna — the Krishna museum at Kurukshetra in Haryana.One devout bhakta of Lord Krishna, Gulzari Lal Nanda (who was twice the Prime Minister of India) conceived the idea of establishing a museum in Kurukshetra in 1987. For here, Lord Krishna delivered the message of Shrimadbhagwadgita and the Krishna Museum set up in this historical town serves as a platform to present and preserve the ideals of Lord Krishna.Initially, the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) had set up the Krishna museum in a small manner in a hall, which is now christened as the lecture hall. The museum was shifted to the present building in 1991 and in its present form was inaugurated on July 28, 1991, by the then President of India, Shri R Venkatraman and in 1995, a new block was added to it. During this period (1987-2008), the museum has accomplished some extraordinary landmarks such as the establishment of the two blocks of museum building having six different galleries.

The first gallery contains the major collections of the museum, pertaining to the Krishna theme, consisting of a variety of art objects such as wood carvings, metal castings and ivory carvings. The other important display of this gallery are the metal objects which include various exploits of Krishna such as Bal-Krishna, Navanita-Krishna, Venugopala, Krishna with gopis, Kaliyamardana etc The second gallery is chiefly devoted to the archeological objects devoted to places in India associated with Lord Krishna, including antiquities of Dwarka and exquisite stone sculptures ranging from 1st to 10th century. The third gallery contains some exquisite miniature paintings, palm leaf etchings and some illustrated manuscripts. The cynosure of all eyes is on the collection of Pahari and Rajasthani paintings and the murals on the octagonal parapet wall, depicting the episodes of the Mahabharata.The fourth gallery has in it nine tableaux depicting the episodes of the life and exploits of Krishna. The fifth gallery is devoted to the Mahabharatha as without highlighting the episodes of the Mahabharata the exhibition of Krishna museum would have been incomplete. In the ‘Mahabharata Utsav-2002’ festival, artists from all parts of India assembled at a single platform in the museum, to execute paintings on the episodes of Mahabharata in their regional style starting from the scene of Bhishma Pratigna or the terrible vow of Bhishma to the Babru Vahan witnessing the proceedings of the battle at Kurukshetra, on a long wall prepared for the exhibition. After the festival, the murals were shifted to the museum for their display and preservation In the sixth gallery is a fine collection of Madhubani paintings from Bihar and Patachitra paintings from Orissa on paper. The most important depiction in this gallery is the Abhimanyu-vadha tableau depicting the incomparable valour with which Abhimanyu fought alone with the seven powerful warriors of the Kauravas. The whole tableau is in Yakshagana style, a famous folk-theatre of Karnataka.But the main attraction of the museum is the centre, with a life-like panorama of the epic battle of Kurukshetra. Standing at the centre of a cylindrical hall, one can feel the towering 34-feet-high paintings of the episodes from the 18-day confrontation between the Pandavas and the Kauravas come alive before his eyes. The chanting of Gita and distant war cries mingled with lighting illusions create the perfect ambience.The science centre situated adjacent to the museum has an exhibition called ‘India: A heritage in science, technology and culture’ consisting of working and interactive exhibits on ancient Indian concept of properties of matter, structure of atom, geometry, arithmetical rules, astronomy medicine and surgery. The museum also specialises in producing one particular theme on Krishna every year. In 2007, it was on Lord Krishna as seen through the paintings of the famous painter Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906). The prints of some of his masterpieces like Draupadi Cheerharan (disrobing of Draupadi), Krishna Shisthai (Krishna as emissary of peace in the court of Dhritarastra) were displayed here. The museum also organises exhibitions outside Kurukshetra on Krishna themes. In 2002, the museum had organised a unique exhibition on the Mahabharatha, at Bangalore on the request of the ‘Mahabharata Samshodan Samsthan’, Bangalore. The museum is located in the heart of the city, juxtapositioned between the Brahma Sarovar and Sannehit Sarovar.

Vrindavan, just 15 km from Mathura, is another major place of pilgrimage. It is noted for its numerous temples - both old and modern. The name Vrindavan evokes the playfulness and lovable characteristics of Shri Krishna. This is the place where he frolicked with the gopis and tenderly wooed Radha.

Mathura City is the transcendental abode of Lord Krishna. It is not an ordinary city, for it is eternally connected with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shri Krishna. Mathura and Vrindavan are intimately connected with Krishna eternally, it is said that Lord Krishna never leaves Vrindavan (vrindavanam parityajya padam ekam na gacchati). Vrindavana and Mathura, continues its position as transcendental places and certainly anyone who goes there becomes transcendentally purified.

Bindra, ranked 17th in the world, was in fourth place entering the final round. He never failed to score below a 10 on any shot and his score of 10.6 on the seventh of his 10 final shots moved him into first for good.

Abhinav Bindra clinched the World Champioship gold, the first ever for the country in shooting, with a spectacular performance in the air rifle final on Monday. The 23-year-old Delhi lad, a two-time Olympian, went into the final a joint leader with two others at 597, and shot a 102.1 in a nerve-wracking climax to emerge top from a strong field of 122 shooters from nearly 100 countries.

There have only been two other instances of Indian shooters winning a World championship medal. Dr. Karni Singh had won the trap silver in a World championship in 1962 in Cairo and Lt. Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore had bagged the bronze in the shotgun World Championship in Cyprus in 2003.

The story that once Dronacharya wished to test his students so he hung a wooden bird from the branch of a tree and then summoned his students, one by one he asked the students to aim at the eye of the wooden bird and then shoot, when student was ready to shoot dronacharya would ask all that he was able to see, students generally described the gardens, trees, branches, the birds, flowers etc. Dronacharya told all the students one by one to step aside and then called Arjuna and asked what he say, Arjuna replied he could only see the birds eye. The above story is a testimony for Arjuna diligent and dedication.

Some how I believe Karna was a better warrior than Arjun. Once Lord Krishna said that Karna was best and invicible but Karna could be killed because Karna was supporting wrong people other wise 100's of Arjun would not be able to kill or defeat him. It is said that bfore the mahabharat war Lord Krishna asked Hanuman to seat on the chariot of Arjun to protect him from the mighty weapons of Drona and Karna. On the 17th Day of war a evenly matched war took place between the Karna and Arjun. Arjuna arrow maked Karna chariot to move 10 step behind. On the otherhand karna arrow pushed Arjuna chariot only 1 step behind. But Lord Krishna cheered or clapped for the efforts of Karna, then Arjuna asked Krishna "which side you are as I am pushing the karna's chariot more distance then his effort" Lord krishna said, "Arjun you are missing some thing he's not actully pushing you, its me. Without my desire no body can push but even in the presence of Hanuman and me he is able to achive that no warrior acheived and will not be able to acheive in the future, now tell me who is more powerfull you or him?"

Well as per what I understand in skill and concentration both are equall. Karna was better in knowledge of devestating weapons, 2nd best after the Lord Krisna. Karna had a upper hand in making strategy or plan thats why Arjuna was never made cheif commandor of his army. Its said that Karna was more physicaly stronger then Arjuna almost equal to Bheem.

LOVE

When I went through the contents under title "Divine Love", I really thought that if anybody TRULY implements these 11 forms of love or 11 ways of practicing love in one's relationship, breakups wont happen. I am not talking about divine love over here, that can only mean love for supreme personality of godhead - lord krishna, I am only trying to express that these 11 forms of expression of love could be really helpful in saving lot of relationships from a disastrous end.

So true, that excitement of being together, that desperation of meeting your beloved, and all those plus points that you see in your love,all those lovy-dovy talks, all this dissapear with the passage of time in most relationships thats because we try to make love COMPLETE, if something like love remains incomplete there's always scope to achieve more and more of it, otherwise we end with foolish excuses of ditching your partner in some or the other way or other unreasonable excuses of why a husband and a wife couldnt get along or why the children and the parents relationship couldnt click etc etc, atleast this is the way I thought so after I read about these 11 love forms and felt that it can really save many relationships from a miserable end.

These 11 forms of expressing your love can be rejoiced eternally only if you are in TRUE love:

The 1st one is - APPRECIATING THE QUALITIES , (guna mahatmyasakti). When we are in love we appreciate different qualities of the person whom we love, we rejoice these qualities of that person when in living in love.

The 2nd one is - APPRECIATING THE FORM, (rupasakti). We fall in love (or should I say rise in love) with the person whom we find beautiful and attractive, thats the immediate reaction that happens as we get in love, we love the form of that person, his/her looks, personality etc and if love persists through out the relationship, one NEVER gets tired of appreciating the form of the person whom you love

The 3rd one is - WORSHIPPING WHOM YOU LOVE, (pujasakti). One who has done this will know the taste of it, your mind says in love ‘‘I want nothing. I just want you and to be with you", If you love someone, something, and whenever there is love you’ll see that you start worshipping that which you love. May be this kind of expression of love does not exist in these time or even if does, to a limited level. Hardly few could think that its like worshipping your beloved whenever there is love, true love but this expression of love is equally important.

The 4th one is REMEMBERING, (smaranasakti).Which means remembering. That something which stays constantly on your mind. Have you noticed that when you love something, and have a desire, that desire lingers on in your mind?, it has to and should linger on in your mind eternally, all the time if its true love, how wonderful if this quality or expression persists all the time , love wont die, it will exist all the time

The 5th is SERVICE , (dasyasakti). Its a natural feeling that one feels like being available for service to your loved ones but it has to remain alive, its a feeling like "my life is here not to get something from you but to give you what you want"

The 6th form of expressing love is showing a feeling of COMPANIONSHIP, (sakhyasakti). Its is feeling wherein you are able to share fearlessly with the person whom you love anything and everything under the sun

The 7th form is AFFECTION, BEING AFFECTIONATE , (vatsalyasakti), like taking care of the one whom you love like a child, feeling that closeness

The 8th form is BELOVED feeling, (kantasakti). " he or she cares for me so much that he / she cannot exist with me"

The 9th form is OFFERING ONE'S VERY SELF, (atmanivedanasakti), "do whatever you want with my life, its any all yours" that feeling.

The 10th form "SEEING EVERYTHING AS YOU", (Tanmayatasakt)

The 11th form of expressing love is EXTREME AGONY AND PAIN OF LONGING, OF SEPERATION, (Paramavirahasakti). Love can never be and should never ever be complete because there should be longing. It’s the longing that makes love incomplete and infinite, Usually, when people love something and there is a longing for it, they try to get rid of it because it’s painful. The more you try to run away from it, you are destroying not only the longing but also the love. So dont run away from this agony of longing, it only nourishes love the more it is.

Love is incomplete. And it will have to remain incomplete. If something is complete, it means that you have marked the boundaries; found its limitations. For love to be infinite, it has to be incomplete. Love is infinite and it finds _expression in infinite ways.

"Hare Krishna" Maha mantra spreads beyond the shores of India

According to vedic literatures, the most recent incarnation of Lord Krishna appeared just over five hundred years ago as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the golden avatara in Mayapur, West Bengal. It was Lord Chaitanya who predicted that the chanting of his holy names:

Hare krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare - would spread beyond the shores of India to every town and village of the world. The person who eventually made his prophecy come true was his Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada). The following is a brief account of his life.

Srila Prabhupada was born on Sept 1.1896 the day after Janmashtmi (appearance day of Lord Krishna) in kolkata. At the time of his birth an astrologer predicted that he would leave India at the age of 70, he would leave India to establish 108 temples of Lord Krishna all over the world.

Srila Prabhudaya displayed great devotion to Lord Krishna from very early age. His faher had given him small dieties of Radha and Krishna which he worshipped daily and at the age of 6 he organised a blissful Radha Krishna yatra festival in his local community for 8 days, after leaving the prestigious scottish churches college, where he stidied for his degree he met the person who was to become his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati who on their very first meeting requested Srila Prabhupada to preach Krishna conciousness in the west. It was this instruction that Srila Prabhupada took to heart and dedicated his life to fulfilling.

f) 125th Year - Fall of Yaduvanshi dynasty due to fraternal killing. Disappearance of Lord Krishna on 18th February 3102 BC.

Our body (the field of activity) is constituted of - 5 elements - False ego,intelligence, the unmanifested, the ten senses namely eyes,ears,nose,tongue,skin,legs,hands,anus,genitals,voice, and the mind , the 5 sense objects namely smell , taste, form, touch and sound, desire,hatred,happiness,distress,the agregate, life symptoms - consciousness and conviction

All these are considered in summary to be the field of activities and its interactions

The knower (soul)of this field of activity (the body) is different, The living entity (soul) thus follows his way of life in this field of activity coming in contact with the material nature (which is again something totally different then the soul and the field of activity), there are 3 modes of material nature - mode of goodness, mode of passion and mode of ignorance, and thus the living entity in this body coming in contact with the different modes of nature lives his way of life,going through happiness and distresses along the way and thus the living entity also meets with good and evil on its way of life.

Amazing It is,It really looks more scientific to me going through the above contents.

SOMETHING SO INTERESTED TO NOTE HERE - "whatever we see in existence both moving and non moving, all this is only a combination of the field of actitivity (body) and the knower (soul) of the field"

Hence its only the the 3 modes of material nature which acts, interacts and the self (soul) does nothing at all, The embodied spirit (soul) doesnot create any activities, nor does the spirit inducts people to act, nor does the spirit create the fruits of ones actions, all this is enacted by the 3 modes of material nature

The self (soul) bewildered by the influence of false ego thinks himself the doer of activities carried out by actually the 3 modes of material nature and not by the self.

Hence TRANSCEND the 3 modes of nature and experience bliss, If you stick to one of your 3 modes even though it may the mode of goodness, still you will remain conditioned for your desire to be always happy and anyway I believe happiness is JUST another side of distress, both go together all along the journey

I was just going through Chapter Three "Karma Yoga" in Bhagavad Gita, theres something really interesting over there Krishna says "Without being attached to the FRUITS of activities, one should act without attachment to the fruits/results"

Isnt it a fact that withing ourselves we are always under the bondage of work, almost most of the time work is like a headache, a burden, a responsblity which one feels that "He/she HAS to carry out the prescribed duty / work wether you like it or not"

Atleast for me theres a science hidden in what Lord Krishna said above, theres a clear indication of how to be free from this feeling of burden, bondage of work, work has to be done but there has to be freedom from the bondage of work, it can really work out in the following way if practiced:

Without being attached to the fruits of activities, act as a matter of duty

Don't think before hand about the results/ fruits of your actions when at work

Its in human nature to remain attached to the thoughts of fruitive results of the work being carried out, thus work becomes burden

When one thinks himself to be the doer of activities, which actually are carried out by nature, he is attached again to the fruits of his activities and thus work again becomes burden

Give up the fruitive results of your work atleast at the time of work, till the work is finished, it releases the pressure on you, this can actually work

I am always excited about the the old things, historic places, old temples and somewhere down the line I know I believe in sacred texts and scriptures, hence just of curiosity I went throught the "Laws of Manu"

Manu was the legendary first man, the Adam of the Hindus. This is a collection of laws attributed to Manu.

A few interesting laws that I read :

a ) He who eats meat, when he honours the gods and manes, commits no sin, whether he has bought it, or himself has killed (the animal), or has received it as a present from others.

b) He who habitually salutes and constantly pays reverence to the aged obtains an increase of four (things), (viz.) length of life, knowledge, fame, (and) strength.

There was still lot to read but will go through them some other time, Even in the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna says "I instructed this imperishable science of yoga (Bhagavad Gita) to Sun God Vivasvan and Vivasvan further instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Iksvaku"

Manu's son was Iksvaku, the King of this planet earth and forefather of the Raghu Dynasty in which Lord Ram appeared

Supreme Lord Krishna

The birth of Krishna is in itself a transcendental phenomenon that generates awe among the Hindus and overwhelms one and all with its supra mundane happenings. Mother Earth, unable to bear the burden of sins committed by evil kings and rulers, appealed to Brahma, the Creator for help. Brahma prayed to the Supreme Lord Vishnu, who assured him that he would soon be born on earth to annihilate tyrannical forces.

One such evil force was Kamsa, the ruler of Mathura (in northern India) and his people were utterly terrified of him. On the day Kamsa's sister Devaki was married off to Vasudeva, an akashvani or voice from the sky was heard prophesying that Devaki's eighth son would be the destroyer of Kamsa. The frightened Kamsa immediately unsheathed his sword to kill his sister but Vasudeva intervened and implored Kamsa to spare his bride, and promised to hand over every new born child to him. Kamsa relented but imprisoned both Devaki and her husband Vasudeva.

When Devaki gave birth to her first child, Kamsa came to the prison cell and slaughtered the newborn. In this way, he killed the first six sons of Devaki. Even before her eighth child was born, Devaki and Vasudeva started lamenting its fate and theirs. Then suddenly Lord Vishnu appeared before them and said he himself was coming to rescue them and the people of Mathura. He asked Vasudeva to carry him to the house of his friend, the cowherd chief

Nanda in Gokula right after his birth, where Nanda's wife Yashoda had given birth to a daughter. He was to exchange his boy and bring Yashoda's baby daughter back to the prison. Vishnu assured them, "nothing shall bar your path".

At midnight on ashtami, the divine baby was born in Kamsa's prison. Remembering the divine instructions, Vasudeva clasped the child to his bosom and started for Gokula, but found that his legs were in chains. He jerked his legs and was unfettered! The massive iron-barred doors unlocked and opened up. While crossing river Yamuna, Vasudeva held his baby high over his head. The rain fell in torrents and the river was in spate. But the water made way for Vasudeva and miraculously a five-mouthed snake followed him from behind and provided shelter for the baby.

When Vasudeva reached Gokula, he found the door of Nanda's house open. He exchanged the babies and hurried back to the prison with the baby girl. Early in the morning the people at Gokula rejoiced the birth of Nanda's beautiful male child. Vasudeva came back to Mathura and as he entered

the doors of the prison closed by itself. When Kamsa came to know about the birth, he rushed to the prison and tried to kill the baby. But this time it skipped from his hand and while reaching the sky, she was transformed into goddess Yogamaya, who told Kamsa: "O foolish man! What will you get by killing me? Your nemesis is already born somewhere else."

In his youth

Krishna killed Kamsa along with all his cruel associates, liberated his parents from prison, and reinstated Ugrasen as the King of Mathura. Krishna was dark and extremely handsome. The word Krishna literally means 'black', and black also connotes mysteriousness. For generations if Krishna has been an agonising enigma to some, he has put millions into ecstasies. Whether he was a human being or a God-incarnate, there is no denying the fact that he has been ruling the hearts of millions for over three millennia. In the words of Swami Harshananda, "If a person can affect such a profound impact on the Hindu race affecting its psyche and ethos and all aspects of its life for centuries, he is no less than God."

"I am the conscience in the heart of all creatures,

I am their beginning, their being, their end,

I am the mind of the senses,

I am the radiant sun among lights,

I am the song in sacred lore,

I am the king of deities,

I am the priest of great seers."

This is how Lord Krishna describes God in the Holy Bhagavad Gita. And to most Hindus he is God himself, the Supreme Being, the Absolute, the Brahman, the Purna Purushotam. The great exponent of the Gita, Krishna is the ninth and complete incarnate of Vishnu, the Godhead of the Hindu Trinity of deities. Of all the Vishnu avatars he is the most popular, and perhaps of all Hindu gods the one closest to the heart of the masses. Krishna has influenced the Indian thought, life and culture in myriad ways. He has influenced not only its religion and philosophy, but also its mysticism and literature, painting and sculpture,

dance and music, and all the aspects of Indian folklore. Krishna is the favourite deity of the Hindus, who consider Him their leader, hero, protector, philosopher, teacher and friend all rolled into one.

Love Divine

Love is incomplete. And it will have to remain incomplete. If something is complete, it means that you have marked the boundaries; found its limitations. For love to be infinite, it has to be incomplete. Love is infinite and it finds _expression in infinite ways. They can be categorised as eleven ways of expressing love, or eleven ways in which love finds its _expression.

The first one is guna mahatmyasakti, imbibing the qualities of the Divine, appreciating the qualities of the Divine. When you love somebody, what is that in him or her that you love? You’ll find some qualities. So-and-so is kind, so-and-so is caring... Qualities do not have form. Loving God in this sense means imbibing all the qualities that God represents. Normally one picks all the negative qualities in a person. Even in God, you will pick some negativity! The moment your mind is not in love, it behaves thus. When you are living Divine love, you will enhance and rejoice in Divine qualities wherever you find them.

The second is rupasakti. Some may not be able to appreciate the qualities, because they don’t see the qualities as qualities. And qualities cannot be seen without a form. When you’re unable to appreciate the subtle qualities, you can definitely appreciate the form that is in the form of you. And forms are everywhere! When you appreciate a flower, you appreciate the form. When you see truth in the form as a quality and glorify it, it takes you beyond the qualities. In the same way, if you love a flower, and deeply appreciate it, you will see that it dissolves into the formless. You will see the space which is hiding deep inside that flower.

The third is pujasakti, the interest in worshipping, honouring. Love can find its _expression in the form of puja, form of honouring. And one who has done this will know the taste of it. As the state of your wholeness, your mind says, ‘‘I want nothing. I just want to be worshipping like this all my life.’’ Pujasakti is a sign of love. If you love someone, something, and whenever there is love you’ll see that you start worshipping that which you love.

The fourth is smaranasakti, which means remembering. That something which stays constantly on your mind. Have you noticed that when you love something, and have a desire, that desire lingers on in your mind? Sometimes, as soon as you get up, the same thing rolls on in your mind. When there is strong desire for something, that thought pours in all the time. In the same way, when you hate something, it runs through your mind all the time. This is called smarana. How wonderful it will be if the Divine just rolls in your mind like that?

Dasyaskati is the fifth. It means being a servant of God. It means saying, ‘‘I am just the servant of the Divine; He’s taking care of me. I do whatever I have been asked to do. My life is here not to get something out of here — I have come to this world to serve Him. Service is expecting nothing in return. Whatever service He wants from me, I’ll do it. Whomsoever He will send in front of me, I will be useful to them, I’ll help them.’’ This is dasyasakti.

The sixth is sakhyasakti, companion of God. A feeling of companionship with the Divine. Many may not like being a servant. Sakhyasakti is a feeling that I am the beloved of my Lord. He is my beloved. I’ll do whatever I can to please Him. It is wherein you are able to share fearlessly with the Divine. And this will have to come from you. It’s not that one is superior to the other. Gita was taught to Arjuna, and Arjuna made Krishna his friend, sakha, companion. That’s why Krishna was called Jagad-guru, the teacher of the whole universe. He was both a master and a companion.

The seventh is vatsalyasakti. Vastsalya means affection, being affectionate. Can we treat the Divine as a child, as a naughty person? In vatsalyasakti, devotion can take the form of the care you have for a child, or mothering the Divine. The devotee then orders God. There’s such a sweet feeling behind it. The devotee tells God, ‘‘See, if You do like that, I’ll be angry with you. If You don’t make Your presence felt today, I’m not going to talk to You tomorrow.’’ So just like a mother deals with a child, a devotee deals with God. Feeling that closeness is vatsalyasakti.

Kantasakti is the eighth form. It is the beloved husband-wife, relationship. Feeling that the Divine is part of you, and, ‘‘He cares for me so much that He cannot exist without me! How can He exist without me?’’

The ninth form is atmanivedanasakti, offering one’s very self. That is a great form of love that, ‘‘my very breath, my very existence is Yours. Every particle of my existence is offered to You. Every breath I breathe in is Yours. I am Yours.’’. That total surrender, letting go. ‘‘You do whatever You want with this life! It is Yours!’’. This flavour, of not even keeping any bit of ‘‘me, I’’ inside, is atmanivedanasakti.

Tanmayatasakt is the tenth form. This is seeing everything as You. That everything belongs to You. The totality of prana, the flow of prana, finding itself everywhere is tanmayatasakti. Being soaked in the Divine love is called tanmaya, tanmayatasakti. Anyway, everything is already soaked in Him! It only has to be recognised!

Paramavirahasakti is the eleventh form. Viraha means extreme agony and the pain of longing, of separation. This also a sign of Divine love. Love can never be complete because there is longing. It’s the longing that makes love incomplete and infinite! So the pain of longing itself is Divine love. In that painful longing, prayer dawns. Blessed are those who go through that pain.
Usually, when people love something and there is a longing for it, they try to get rid of it because it’s painful. The more you try to run away from it, you are destroying not only the longing but also the love. But if you can accept the pain of longing, that brings you the recognition of infinity. Evening comes, remains for HARDLY few hours,

as it passes by and those few hours are GONE, dont you feel your times wasted..

doing what ? enjoying those hours or may be distressed, but then after that what? BLANK...

Then night arises, till your closed eyes take you in deep sleep, again few hours

remain with you HARDLY for sometime and GONE, dont you feel times vanished..

after that what? BLANK.....

Then comes morning, in a split, time flys off, doing what?, rushing to office, school,etc.

and those few hours are GONE, time vanished, after that what? BLANK....

Then comes afternoon, again for HARDLY few hours, then its GONE, did what? had lunch or an afternoon nap or may be something else?, but then, GONE, time vanished,

and thus with the passage of time, morning, afternoon, evening, night flying by, HARDLY in a matter of FEW years one grows old.....BLANK.....

Ancestors suffer-
If according to rules periodical food and water is not offered to our forefathers. Offering to be performed by worship of Lord Vishnu.
Forefathers may be suffering from various sinful reactions and sometimes are even forced to remain in subtle bodies as ghosts, thus when remnants of prasadam food are offered to forefathers by descendents, forefathers are released from ghostly or other miserable life forms.

The Meaning of the Maha-Mantra

This is the Hare Krishna mantra, or maha-mantra, the great mantra for deliverance. Composed of three of the holy names of God from the Sanskrit scriptures of ancient India, it is transcendental sound vibration. It is not ordinary sound.
The word mantra comes from man (mind) and tra (to free). A mantra is a sound or prayer that frees the mind from the miseries of the material world.
The three holy names in the maha-mantra are Hare, Krishna, and Rama.
Hare is pronounced “huh-ray”.Hare means the energy of God. The Sanskrit word for energy is shakti. Shakti has a personal, specifically feminine, dimension to its meaning. So here, energy means the feminine aspect of God. Our spiritual master, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, explained that the name Hare refers to Mother Hara, otherwise known as Radha or Radharani.
Krishna is pronounced with a short “i”. The correct pronunciation is KRISH-na, (not KREESH-na.) Krishna means the All-Attractive Supreme Personality of Godhead.There are many attractive qualities to be found in the world, and many people have some degree of one or more of these qualities, but the one who has all of these qualities in full and unlimited measure can only be God. He is the source of all qualities, and in fact of all things in existence. He is a person, the original person, and the source of all incarnations and manifestations of Himself and of His creation, so He is called not just God but the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Rama is pronounced to rhyme with drama, RAH-muh.Rama means the reservoir of all pleasure. If we try to find pleasure independently we will only find brief snippets and it will be mixed with misery. But if we tap into the reservoir of all pleasure, the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, by devotional service, we will be connected to the unlimited reservoir of all pleasure.
The holy names are transcendental sound, and they are nondifferentfrom the transcendental form of God.

↓This is a picture of Radha and Krishna. God is one, but to enjoy loving pastimes He separates Himself into His male and female attributes, who eternally love each other in the original pure love relationship which we try so hard to imitate in our mundane world.

↓Radha and Krishna are not alone. They are accompanied by their dear friends, the pure devotees who reside blissfully with them in the eternal spiritual realm.

The Supreme Personality of Godhead has spiritual form, but He is not limited by that form as we are by ours. He can be in unlimited places at once, and expands Himself into unlimited forms, some identical and some a little different or very different.
The first expansion who is a little different is Balarama, who has a milk white complexion and who plays as Krishna’s brother, serving Him in many ways. The two brothers are cowherd boys in the spiritual world.
Balarama expands Himself into the majestic Vishnu forms with four beautiful arms. It is one of these Vishnu forms who creates the material world, and it is He who, for specific purposes, incarnates in many forms very different from Krishna the cowherd boy. But it is Krishna Himself who comes to earth as Krishna the cowherd boy.

Perfection of Life - No More birth, No More death, No More desease, No More Old Age

It is said that manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhaye [Bg. 7.3].

There are millions and millions, human beings. Out of them, one is very much anxious how to get perfection of life. Because everyone is carried by the animal propensities. What are the animal propensities? Eating, sleeping, sex life and defense. Ahara-nidra-bhaya-maithunam ca, samanyam etat pasubhir naranam. These are the common formulas both to the animals and the human being. What is that? Eating, sleeping, mating, sex life and defending. Defense. Everyone is doing that according to his own capacity. Cats and dogs, they also eat, they also sleep, they also have sex life, and they also try to defend when there is danger, when there is enemy. So these things are common formulas both for the animal and human being. But what is the especial prerogative for the human being? That is siddhi, how to make life perfect. Therefore here it is said, manusyanam sahasresu kascid yatati siddhaye [Bg. 7.3]. Siddhaye means “for perfection.”
What is the perfection of life? Perfection of life is no
more birth, no more death, no more disease, no more old age. That is perfection
That the people do not know, that there is possibility of attaining stage when there is no more birth, no more death, no more old age. There are so many universities, so many educational institution all over the world, but nowhere there is department of understanding this science, how to stop birth, death, old age and disease. In the chemical laboratory, they are trying to manufacture chemicals for stopping birth, contraceptive. But there is no medicine that after taking this medicine or these chemicals, there will be no more death or no more birth, no more old age and more disease. You can manufacture chemical or combination of medicine as counteracting the disease.

Goodness, Passion and Ignorance

We are conditioned by one of the Three Modes of Nature - Goodness, Passion or Ignorance, and thus we are said to be of a particular faith according to the mode that we acquired, every one has a particular type of faith, regardless of what he is, but his faith is considered good, passionate of ignorant according to the nature he has acquired.

Something really interesting to note here - The real fact is that every living being is originally transcendental to all the modes of material nature, but when he comes in contact with any of these material nature during his life span, he generates his own position by association with different varieties of material nature (goodness, passion or ignorant) and thus he remains trapped in this cycle and acts according to his nature which includes every thing under the sun, his eating habits, his sacrifices, austerities, charity, his worship practices, his actions, reactions, his thoughts, his motive, his ideology everything he does is according to the three modes of nature that he comes in contact with thus he conducts by some impression or some conception of life and thus takes the pleasure and pain accordingly from time to time.

Though his real position is transcendental to all these three modes which means he is "nirguna" or transcendental, had he remained transcendental from all the three modes, there is no suffering, no pain, no artificial or material happiness which is temperory, see its basically like two sides of a coin, the coin has two sides, for eg one side is pleasure and the other all pain, now when you flip the coin, one of the sides is on the upper side, it can never be that only one of the sides always comes up, the best way to avoid the pain side of the coin is not to have the coin itself, you got it? thus the only way to come out of the cycle of pain which is also associated with pleasure is to transcend the three modes of nature, it can really work thats my opinion.

Some thing more interesting to note that even the food that we consume is of three kinds, according to the three modes of our nature that we are in contact with :

Food in the mode of goodness increases the duration of life, it purifies ones existence and gives strength, health, happiness and satisfaction. Such foods are sweet, juicy, fattening and palatable.

Food that are too bitter, too salty, pungent,dry and hot are liked by people in the mode of passion, such foods cause pain, distress, and disease.

Food in the mode of ignorance are the ones cooked more than three hours before being eaten, which is tasteless, stale, putrid, decomposed and unclean, it is liked by people who are in the mode of ignorance.

These fifty qualities, however, may also be found in varying degrees in some of the jivas or common living entities in this universe. But they are found in Lord Krishna to an unlimited degree. But besides these 50 qualities, there are five more which may also be manifested at times in the forms of Lord Brahma and Shiva. These are:

changeless
all-cognizant
ever-fresh
sat-cid-ananda-vigraha--possessing a transcendental form of eternity, full of knowledge and absolute bliss
possessing all mystic perfection.

Beyond the above mentioned qualities, which may be seen in other forms of Divinity such as the demigods, Lord Krishna has the following exceptional qualities which are also manifested in the form of Narayana or Vishnu, His form as the Lord of Vaikuntha. These are:

inconceivable potency
uncountable universes are generated from His body
the original source of all incarnations
the giver of salvation to the enemies He kills
the attractor of liberated souls

Besides the above-mentioned traits, Lord Krishna has four more qualities that are found only in Him, and not even in His forms of Vishnu, not to mention any of the demigods. These are:

the performer of wonderful pastimes (especially his childhood pastimes)
surrounded by devotees endowed with unsurpassed love of Godhead
the attractor of all living entities in all universes through the expert playing of His flute
possessor of unexcelled beauty without rival

All of these qualities are those of someone who has a highly developed form and personality.
Even the Bible verifies that God has a most beautiful form and is not formless, as is shown in the next few verses that are very similar to the Vedic description of God’s form: “My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand. His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are bushy, and black as a raven. His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers; his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh. His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl; his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires. His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon sockets of fine gold; his countenance is as Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. His mouth is most sweet; yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend.” (Song of Solomon 5.10-16)
Obviously, there is no more elevated truth or higher bliss than the personal form of the Supreme. As Sri Krishna says: “O conqueror of wealth [Arjuna], there is no truth superior to Me.” (Bg.7.7) Many great transcendental scholars have accepted this fact, including Ramanujacharya, Madhvacharya, Vallabhacharya, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Baladeva, as well as Lord Brahma, who, after performing many austerities for spiritual purification, became perfectly self-realized and, getting a glimpse of the Lord’s spiritual nature, composed the Brahma-samhita many thousands of years ago and described what were his confidential realizations. One such verse is the following: “Krishna, who is known as Govinda, is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.” (Brahma-samhita 5.1)

Work done for sense gratification and work done for fruitive results develops attachment and from attachment lust develops and from lust anger arises, presure arises, from anger delusion arises and from delusion bewilderment of memory, when memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost and when intelligence is lost, one falls down again in the material pool (becomes materialistic)

Possible ways of freedom from the bondage of work :

One who controls his mind and engages himself in devotion of lord remains unattached

Work done as a sacrifice to the Lord, one will always remain free from bondage

Without being attached to the fruits of activities, act as a matter of duty

Don't think before hand about the results/ fruits of your actions when at work

Its in human nature to remain attached to the thots of fruitive results of the work being carried out, thus work becomes burden

When one thinks himself to be the doer of activities, which actually are carried out by nature, he is attached again to the fruits of his activities and thus work again becomes burden

Give up the fruitive results of your work atleast at the time of work, till the work is finished, it releases the pressure on you, this can actually work

Thus being self realised, a man has no purpose to fulfill in the discharge of his prescribed duties, nor has he any reason not to perform his work, a little advancement in this path can be helpful

Finally approaching your prescribed duty as above, one may realise that the prescribed duty has be done with no burden at all or it may look like there was no work at all

Happiness is largely a choice. I can hear many of you arguing with me, but it's true. You can choose to be happy at work. Sound simple? Yes. But, simplicity is often profoundly difficult to put into action. I wish all of you had the best employer in the world, but, face it, you may not. So, think positively about your work. Dwell on the aspects of your work you like. Avoid negative people and gossip. Find coworkers you like and enjoy and spend your time with them. Your choices at work largely define your experience. 2) Do Something You Love Every Single Day
You may or may not love your current job and you may or may not believe that you can find something in your current job to love, but you can. Trust me. Take a look at yourself, your skills and interests, and find something that you can enjoy doing every day. If you do something you love every single day, your current job won't seem so bad.

3)Take Charge of Your Own Professional and Personal Development
A young employee complained to me recently that she wanted to change jobs because her boss was not doing enough to help her develop professionally. I asked her whom she thought was the person most interested in her development. The answer, of course, was her. You are the person with the most to gain from continuing to develop professionally. Take charge of your own growth; ask for specific and meaningful help from your boss, but march to the music of your personally developed plan and goals. You have the most to gain from growing - and the most to lose, if you stand still.

You are responsible for your own development. Everything else you get is gravy.

One of the most serious causes of work stress and unhappiness is failing to keep commitments. Many employees spend more time making excuses for failing to keep a commitment, and worrying about the consequences of not keeping a commitment, than they do performing the tasks promised. Create a system of organization and planning that enables you to assess your ability to complete a requested commitment. Don't volunteer if you don't have time. Why Podcast?

By offering a podcast, you give people the flexibility of hearing your information when it's convenient for them. They can hear your content, you keep your business on their mind and by continuing to offer free content, you'll be able to gain a loyal following.

Podcast, Not Commercial
Don't use your podcast as a commercial.

A podcast isn't another word for infomercial. You'll want to give listeners free, helpful information that they can use whether they buy your product or skip the sale. Yoga works for Epilepsy

The ancient Indian practice and philosophy of yoga is increasingly becoming a focal point of therapy and research in treating epileptic seizure disorders. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that around 50 million people in the world have epilepsy. About 75 per cent of these are with seizure disorders, and they hardly receive any medical treatment.

Yoga offers an ancient yet amazingly modern approach to treating seizures. The ancient Indian texts, Vedas describe four types of epilepsy and nine disorders causing convulsions in children. As therapy, the physical discipline of yoga seeks to re-establish a balance (union) between those aspects of a person's health that cause seizures.

Many Illnesses, One Common Symptom
Seizure disorder (or epilepsy) is one of the oldest recorded afflictions of humankind. "Epilepsy" is a word used to describe many illnesses with one common symptom — seizures that disrupt the normal activity of the central nervous system. There are dozens of disorders, which may cause seizures. In the language of Ayurveda, epilepsy is called "Apasmara," meaning loss of consciousness.

Yoga Therapy for Seizures
Epileptologist Dr. Nandan Yardi, head of the Yardi Epilepsy Clinic, Kothrud, Pune, India, speaks of the "yogas," when writing about seizure disorders. He points out that seizures, like physical diseases, result when there are imbalances in the various physical and psychological systems (unions) of the body. Yoga is one of the oldest formal practices known whose purpose is to restore this balance.

Pranayama or Deep Diaphragmatic Breathing
As a person slips into a seizure state, s/he should reflexively catch and hold their breath, as if startled or frightened. This causes changes in metabolism, blood flow, and oxygen levels in the brain. The practice of pranayama, i.e., controlled deep diaphragmatic breathing helps restore normal respiration, which can reduce the chances of going into a seizure or stop seizures before they become full blown.

Asanas or Postures
The "asanas" or "yogasanas" aid in restoring balance to the body and its metabolic systems. Practicing asanas increase physical stamina and calm the nervous system. Asanas, used as a physical exercise alone, improve circulation, respiration, and concentration while decreasing the chances of having a seizure.

Dhyana or Meditation
Stress is a well-recognized trigger of seizure activity. "Dhyana" or meditation soothes the mind as it heals the body. Meditation improves blood flow to the brain and slows the production of stress hormones. Meditation also increases the levels of neurotransmitters, like serotonin, which keep the body's nervous system calm. Practicing relaxation techniques, such as yoga meditation, is well known as a definitive aid in seizure control.

Research into Yoga for Seizures
In 1996, The Indian Journal of Medical Research published the results of a study on the effects of "Sahaja Yoga" practice on seizure control. The study was not large enough to be considered conclusive. However, its results were so promising, the study caught the attention of researchers in Europe and the North America. In this study, a group of patients with epilepsy practicing "Sahaja Yoga" for six months experienced an 86 per cent decrease in their seizure frequency.

Research carried out at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi) found that meditation improved the brain wave activity of people with seizure disorders leading to a reduction in seizures. In a similar study conducted in the United States concluded that patients who learned to control their breathing had an improvement in their seizure frequency. Dr. Steven Pacia is currently conducting a study at the New York University Comprehensive Epilepsy Center on the use of yoga to decrease seizures in epileptic persons. The art and science of yoga is being discovered anew as a valuable approach to exercise self-control of seizures.

Meditation increases the ability to concentrate and enhance memory power. It brings in a sense of inner peace and tranquility, and makes you appealing in nature. Meditation is also thought to tap the hidden potentials of an individual.

Difficulty Level: Hard
Time Required: 10 - 30 minutes

Meditation Steps:

Find some time out of your daily schedule.
Find a quiet place and sit down.
Be comfortable. Relax.
Keep the face serene. Chin up.
Close your eyes slowly to experience a void darkness. ( Remember to keep
your eyelids closed throughout the following steps)
Look into your eyelids as if seeing with your eyelids open.
Keep your mind empty of people, place, things, color or any form.
Try and concentrate on the center of your forehead.
If thoughts arise, bypass them and keep looking with your eyelids closed, going deeper and deeper, leaving form, name, color, and activities far behind you.
Experience the motion of going, as if driving in a car, and you'll be going deeper and deeper - beyond the body and senses.
As you go deeper and deeper with your eyes closed in this dark place, you may see the swirling of smoke-like colours flickering in the darkness and silvery flashes of light.
Look straight in front with your eyelids closed and keep going further and further.
To keep you alert in meditation, take slow deep breaths. Colors will swirl and change pattern rising with each breath.
Keep breathing steady. Let thoughts come and go. You're on a journey going beyond the body and form.
After you feel totally calm and relaxed, gradually open your eyes and spring back to life with renewed energy.

Tips:

Do not sit for meditation with workload on your mind.
Wear simple, loose clothes, preferably white in color.
If concentrating on 'nothing' seems difficult, try concentrating on your breathing. Another way to concentrate is by uttering the sacred syllable "Om" loudly, which helps arrest your thoughts as it resonates through your body.
